Use MobileMate

Ok, in the Install MobileMate page, we have installed MobileMate using your favorite way. If you use virtual machine, you should have configured the shared folders of host so MobileMate guest can convert the files in host directly. So, let's begin use MobileMate convert our video/audio files.

Boot MobileMate

When you boot MobileMate, there are five text lines in the boot window. The first sky blue line is title. The next four white lines are boot menu items, you can press “Up” and “Down” key of keyboard to move between items. The fifth red line tell us can enter edit options with “Tab” key of keyboard.

Although there are four menu items, but only the first two are available items. Move on item and press “Enter” to boot. The first item “MobileMate lang=C” is used for English user and the second “MobileMate lang=zh_CN.UTF-8” for Chinese user. If you boot mobilemate without press any key, wait for 60 seconds, then it will boot the default first item “MobileMate lang=C” for English user. Currently, MobileMate only full supports English and Simplified Chinese language.

The next two menu items is not for booting MobileMate. They tell us how to boot MobileMate with additional options. Press “F2, F3, F4” you will see the additional boot options and its brief explanation. For example, Press “F2”, you will see “ tinycore waitusb=X Wait X seconds for slow USB devices”. Press “ESC” return main boot window, move to the first white line “MobileMate lang=C”, press “Tab” key to edit the boot options, add “ waitusb=5” after “quiet”, the boot text changed from “/boot/bzImage initrd=/boot/tinycore.gz quiet” to “boot/bzImage initrd=/boot/tinycore.gz quiet waitusb=5”, then, the boot processing will wait 5 seconds for slow usb devices get ready then continue booting.

You can also read the additional boot options and its brief explanation here. And, you can read some boot option example explanations here. But, because MobileMate's boot style has changed, so only read its boot options meaning, and edit options and boot use the instruction above.

MobieMate V0.1 is customized on TinyCore Linux 3.7.1, so the common usage of MobileMate please read TinyCore Wiki at: http://wiki.tinycorelinux.net/ .

Start MobileMate tool enter desktop environment, click the mobilephone icon on the bottom toolbar, or click on the desktop, select “Applications→Mobilemate” to start program.
