when we are in bbs,you may say like this “why no people can answer my question,if all the exper die?”, i think this is the demerit of bbs,because a lot of expert think it scorn to answer in public site.but the e-mail is different with bbs,they always reply email,i think they like question.
so majordomo@cs.wustl.edu is an example for discuss with cobra,you can send a question after regediset and all the regedised man can receiver the question if they set they interest with this kind of question.if anyone answer you may receiver a email immediately,i think this can expand bbs’s function
